Student Work – Lucy Hargrave

“Designed in collaboration with Josh Tatarynowicz, these packages were for a handmade goats milk soap company. We created four intricate Mandala patterns based on the natural ingredients used in each soap flavour; like peppermint leaves, rose petals & lemon slices. The patterns are laser cut out of card and allow for the soap to be smelt through the packaging.”

The design is so delicate that I think people will save the packaging to store their earrings, rings, etc.
There you have the “reuse” element. And the material itself is recyclable. That’s already 2 of the 3 R’s.
I don’t see a reason why soaps should still be packaged in plastic.

Wow!
Theses are just stunningly beautiful designs.
I would buy these just to get the package.
Great work overall!
Cheers.

Lovely packaging however this comes at a cost of the manufacture of this packaging, resources used, etc. I would think that a better comliment to the product would be to use less packaging, thus less waste, even if recycled.
Wether you want to or not, we all have to live a more sustainable life as this planet is just unable to continue to support our way of life, so my thoughts are far simpler packaging would do just as well.
Whilst rather nice, it would be completely selfish to use that much packaging… but I guess far too many people just don’t care enough (yet) – and no, I am not “one of those eco warriors” – just a normal, average person who cares.

Hi Lucy,
I think a company has plagiarised this package idea.
Please contact me for more information.
