PepsiCo Partners With Stranger Things To Release Retro Packaging Of Their Best Products

Stranger Things season 4 is trending worldwide. But what really is Stranger Things? Well, you must have been living on an isolated island, cut off from humanity, if you do not know about the popular web series which is taking over the world. Stranger Things season 4 is a horror/science fiction series streaming on Netflix.

The latest season of the popular web series is filled with 80s iconography, which inspired PepsiCo to create nostalgia-heavy packaging for its Latin American customers. The company’s Latin American design team created these limited-edition packaging and merchandise after going through several retro designs of Frito-Lay and Sabritas.

The logos used in the limited-edition packaging are vintage renditions of Ruffles, Doritos, Sabritas, and Cheetos. While these logos look similar to the ones used in the 80s, they are not exactly the same.

Mind flayers, demo gorgons, creepy portals, and Hawkins National Laboratory feature prominently in the limited-edition packaging. Another common feature of the packaging is the use of dark purple background. Each bag uses dark purple in combination with its brand-specific shade. For example, Sabritas uses the common background color, along with yellow, its specific brand shade, while Ruffles uses green.

In addition to the chip packaging, PepsiCo has created retro-inspired merchandise based on the Stranger Things series. Some of the branded merchandise includes t-shirts, metal lunch boxes, and skateboards.

While the US and UK will miss out on the adventure, Latin America will certainly have a ball.
