Agency: Seymourpowell | Country: Australia
Branding and design agency Seymourpowell recently collaborated with the Republic of Fremantle to design the brand’s new flagship range of Signature Vodka, Aromatic Gin, and Full-Bodied Gin.
Established in 2019, the Republic of Fremantle is a western Australian distillery known for crafting its spirits from scratch. The urban distillery, located in Fremantle’s bustling West End, uses the ‘grape to glass’ method to create base spirits. This innovative distilling method is used along with locally sourced wine.
Inspired by the brand’s Antipodean origins, Seymourpowell created the packaging designs. Fremantle is a historic port city and contains various maritime-related artifacts and devices. Seymourpowell used the port city’s rich visuals as the centerpiece of packaging designs of the Republic of Fremantle’s flagship range. Lighthouse sails and compasses brace the packaging label of the spirit brand’s new range.
Allison Spence, Creative Director, Brand, Seymourpowell commented: “At the heart of the conceptual thinking, the visual storytelling was focused around the unique production method, from grape to glass. The multifaceted, complex and layered tasting notes of the product itself, are reflected in the detail of the designs.”
“The team at Seymourpowell tackled our brief exceptionally well, bringing the philosophy of the Republic to life by incorporating the core of our brand’s origin and offering at the heart of its visual identity. The design tells our story and encourages our customers to interact with the product. We wanted to develop something that celebrates our origin, unique distilling process and provenance at every pour, proudly standing out from other brands,” said John McVeigh, the co-founder of Republic of Fremantle.
