We have all heard about underground water and its many health benefits. But have you ever thought about how water materializes so deep within the earth? Marcus Vitruvius Pollio, a Roman architect, describes the phenomenon in his famous Infiltration Theory, which modern scientists use even today!
Well, as heavy as it may sound, the process is, in fact, simple: atmospheric precipitation leads to the production of groundwater, which finds its way up through cracks in rocks.
The official website of Borjomi mentions the following:
“Borjomi water is sourced from a 1,500 year old volcanic spring where the natural pressure of carbon dioxide pushes water to the surface from 10km underground.
Unlike many sodium bicarbonate waters, Borjomi spring water does not have time to cool before reaching the surface at a temperature of 38-41oC. On its journey upwards, the rocks of the Caucasian mountains enrich the water with over 60 different mineral compounds. Research has found that deep mineralised waters, fresh waters and weakly mineralised waters form Borjomi spring water.”
The packaging
Borjomi partnered with the Athens-based graphic artist Antonia Skaraki to create compelling packaging designs for their limited edition Borjomi Gregorian Mineral Water. The packaging is based on the sacred symbol of Borjomi, namely Gregorian patterns, the deer and Gregorian Green.
“The package design conveys Borjomi’s brand essence: the life force. It also radiates freedom and rejuvenation. Together they vibrate like an erupting volcano. They engage in dialogue. Speak to themselves. Ask questions. We, the optimistic hedonists, answer them with our body filled with 70% of the same matter.”
