The rise of mushrooms in recent years is well-documented, with these versatile fungi being utilized in everything from supplements to psychedelics. In an innovative twist, packaging design company Morae has harnessed the power of mushrooms in their design for haircare brand The Rootist, thus turning the brand into a funny play on words with its tangible packaging.
In line with The Rootist’s dedication to sustainability, Morae collaborated with mycelium packaging company Evocative to create a compostable tray. This clever solution can be easily composted at home, making it a new eco-friendly option.
Morae enjoys going beyond standard packaging concepts, bringing ideas to the table and turning a brand’s vision into tangible, functional products. The Rootist, a haircare brand focusing on root health, is one such example. The brand’s mission is to offer sustainable hair care solutions, both in its formulations and packaging.
Morae and Evocative worked together to develop a tray made entirely of mycelium – the very root of mushrooms. The result is a biodegradable, compostable packaging solution that aligns perfectly with The Rootist’s commitment to sustainability and the concept of “roots.”
Many details were reviewed by the Morae and Evocative teams, with rigorous testing conducted to ensure the packaging’s durability under various environmental stressors. The final product is an innovative, sustainable packaging solution – the first of its kind to be released on a large scale.
Naturally at Lovely Package, we’re impressed with these new innovations, and applaud the creators! At the same time, we look forward to a future where the actual bottles will be made from these types of materials. Who knows when we might see this?
