KookSoonDang’s REA 2013 BORN is a prime example of dedication and craftsmanship in the distilled spirits industry. Launched in 2024 after a meticulous four-month development process, this premium Soju represents the pinnacle of heritage and modernity. The project, spearheaded by a skilled team responsible for branding, package design, and official promotion, also features distinctive horse illustrations by Root 57, adding a unique artistic touch to the branding.

The REA 2013 BORN is rooted deeply in tradition, emerging from Yeoju Distillery’s first unadulterated solution created ten years prior. This foundational spirit, through a decade of careful maturation, evolved into a Soju with truly enchanting flavors. Its design celebrates this rich heritage, blending modern design sensibilities with age-old traditions to appeal to both traditional enthusiasts and new-age consumers.

The spirit’s bottle design is particularly noteworthy, drawing inspiration from the exquisite Korean mother-of-pearl lacquerware. The subtle inclusion of mother-of-pearl lettering not only pays homage to traditional Korean artistry but also positions the Soju as a product of high cultural and aesthetic value. REA, or Guksundang Yeoju Myeongju, reflects the distillery’s commitment to using traditional methods and premium ingredients, encapsulating the essence of Korea’s Soju heritage.

Beyond its visual and sensory appeal, REA 2013 BORN’s design philosophy—”BI design”—emphasizes clear communication through its aesthetic elements. This approach not only enhances brand identity but also tells the brand’s story, connecting deeply with its audience. The packaging design uses a sophisticated black and white theme that allows the signature logo to stand out, symbolizing the unity of time and space. The intertwining lines in the design further signify this connection, culminating in a product that not only looks remarkable but also embodies the spirit of its legacy.

Overall, REA 2013 BORN stands as a testament to the art of Soju making, balancing the integrity of traditional techniques with the allure of modern design, making it a beacon of cultural pride and innovative craftsmanship.
