Master Cheese Maker Eric Bruner Teams Up With Studio Unbound To Launch Gibloux

Design Agency: Studio Unbound | Country: United Kingdom

Eric Burner has traveled the world, testing and crafting cheese, but The Emmental stuck to him. Emmental is known for its naturally forming holes and is one of the most iconic Swiss cheese varieties, always in high demand. Interestingly, Emmental’s recipe is related to Eric’s heritage.

Eric, the independent master cheese maker, and Studio bound teamed to create Gibloux—a London-based artisan Swiss cheese brand focused on Emmental. Gibloux is a district in the western region of Switzerland and is linked to the master cheese maker’s family.

The color palette is inspired by the regional flag and crest of Fribourg, the region Gibloux is a part of. The colors yellow, red, and black evoke a sense of Swiss pride and heritage.

The typography is inspired by labels found on aged whiskey, giving the brand an elevated sense of luxury and craftsmanship. However, what sets the design apart is the use of disruptive die cuts. The mix of conventional typography and the contemporary die cuts gives the brand a premium feel.

Gibloux is a cheese brand that takes Swiss heritage and pride for the world to see. In addition to designing the cheese brand, Studio Unbound came up with a coffee table book that explores the fascinating world of cheese making. The book also shares insights into Eric’s craftsmanship.
