“Moonshine was the name given to illegally distilled whiskey during the US Prohibition, among this time, production was carried out at night, under the moon’s rays. Juan Montaña is a Mexican distilled liquor which represents the southern US., made out of natural products such as water, yeast, corn kernels and barley. Its branding, packaging and graphic language are inspired by the story of a typical old hermitliving in the southern US Mountains, represented with a vintage ilustration at the top of the label. We chose to merge a rustic style with spare printing techniques to create a fresh design, combined with old fashioned elements to reflect the natural essence of the product. The result is a label with a vintage and raw look that give it a handmade feel.”

Caralarga

“Caralarga is a Mexican jewelry design firm. This project included the creation of visual identity and the design of the packaging. The brand concept was inspired and based by the work of Native Americans, trying to communicate this idea through the icon in the logo, which is a tepee that represents the two capital letters of the designer and founder of the brand: Ana Holschinder. We chose to work with a bright and vibrant color palette, combined with a modern sans serif font, which would reflect the energy of the brand. The result is a simple, yet unique, clean and bold packaging printed in full color and matte coated, using a geometric shape printed over half the surface of the box to give a particular and friendly look.”

“The Santanera Group, based in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, produces this “special” mezcal deep in the heart of Oaxaca.

What makes this mezcal different, is not only its mix of 3 different agaves, but also a dash of Lophophora Williamsii, to spike it up.

The name Papadiablo speaks of duality and introspection and the package design reminds us of an antique medicinal spirit decanter with a rugged embossed texture so that you “never loose your grip”.”

Hand made in Oaxaca, Mexico, this pure, white spirit mixes the ancient rituals and production methods with contemporary culture.

This contradiction is, in essence, the product’s personality. Mezcal Alacrán is encased in a glass bottle with a matte white Soft-Touch coating.”

ZOÉ – Limited Edition Box Set

“We were asked to design this limited box set edition for mexican rock band ZOÉ. The hand-drawn artwork was inspired by The Beatles’ Revolver and was based on an actual photo shoot of the band. The set contains the band’s 3 previous album releases on 12″ vinyl plus a revisited album of their latest studio recording Reptilectric, with remixes by artists such as Mad Professor, Schneider TM, Colder and Sebastien Tellier, also illustrated by hand.”

“Auténtico Tequila Alacrán (ATA) – Authentic Scorpion Tequila. This is not a brand or some product created by a transnational corporation. Instead, it was made by a group of friends in Mexico City, who rebelled against the status quo and created this unconventionally pure white spirit concealed within a matte-black bottle. The special and rubbery (some say velvety) “Soft Touch” finish is a unique texture, never before applied on a tequila bottle, or any other that we know of. The shape was inspired by a canteen crossed with a liquor flask and Its rugged skin makes it the ultimate urban trend. The tequila is absolutely delicious by the way.”
