“As part of an entire portfolio rebrand, St. Bernadine was asked to help create a new look for Lighthouse Brewing Co.’s “Explorer Series” family of craft beers. Lighthouse Brewing’s Explorer Series is a family of craft beers brewed for those looking for a little more in their beers; more hop, more malt, more character.

This inspired a design system that was created to reflect the layers and complexity of the beers, while still honouring the hand crafted nature of the brews and remaining true to the brand’s nautical positioning. For launch, the family included Shipwreck IPA, Tasman Pale Ale, and Seaport Vanilla Stout.”

“Neverland Tea Salon partnered with Saint Bernadine Mission Communications to help them with the packaging for their proprietary branded line of hand-selected blended teas. With well over 75 flavours, in over 10 sub groups, the solution required a design system that was flexible, scaleable, and easily navigable.

The solution resulted in a universal bag (for each net weight size) complete with silver foil branding and ornate detailing. A colour coded system of multiple stickers was developed to allow for a cost effective, yet easy to distinguish system, while easily accommodating a diverse range of sku’s with different volume requirements.”

Cori Creed Wildflower Honey

“Two passions collided to create Cori Creed’s Wildflower Honey. Acclaimed West Coast landscape artist Cori Creed embraced a family tradition when she introduced bees to her flower garden – which can be admired from her studio window. To celebrate her first harvest, Cori wanted to create a limited edition package that she could share with friends, family, and supporters.

Designed by St. Bernadine, the packaging drew inspiration from Cori’s first passion – painting. Using paint tubes, St. Bernadine created a unique and simple package that was perfect for the artist. Custom lettering was created to emphasize this personalized, one-of-a-kind honey, while subtle flourishes and intricate details reflected Cori’s dedication to both her art and her garden. A die-cut label was wrapped around each tube, noting the individual flowers that helped to create the honey, along with a personal message from Cori.”

“Famoso Neapolitan Pizzeria was founded almost a decade ago in Alberta, after partner Justin Lussier traveled to Naples and fell in love with the centuries-old staple. With over 20 locations across Canada, Famoso brings authentic recipes, fresh ingredients, and a vibrant atmosphere to pizza lovers nationwide.

This past holiday season, after years of requests to bottle their signature Campania tomato sauce, Famoso saw an opportunity to both satisfy customer demand, and give back to the community. St. Bernadine was tasked with designing the packaging for the sauce jars that complemented the current brand identity, supporting the brand’s ‘authentic’ attribute, and stood out on display within the landscape of their stores.”

“Earls Kitchen + Bar approach to sourcing their house wine is no different then their approach to developing their food menu; take a team around the globe to taste, select, and source the most delicious wines available and offer them at exceptional value. St. Bernadine designed this system to incorporate both the red and white wine varietals under their country of origin. Informed by passports and travel stamps, design elements reflect the global sourcing required to offer these wines, while still demonstrating the Earls fun, approachable personality.”

“Mahony & Sons Public House, a premium and authentic Irish pub in Vancouver, created their own custom blend of Irish Whiskey for their valued guests and patrons. As the cask was on display in the centre of the pub, Mahony & Sons called on St. Bernadine to design a cask for their Mahony & Sons Proprietors’ Special Blend that complemented their brand, while also communicating the special handcrafted nature of this select premium Irish Whiskey, carefully mellowed in a sherry conditioned cask. The cask, affectionately  called “The Good Woman” pays homage to a Mahony ancestor who owned a “Good Woman Pub” in the 1870’s.”

Great Western

Designed by St. Bernadine Mission Communication Inc. | Country: Canada

“Saskatoon, Canada’s Great Western Brewing Co’s eponymous family of beers has been a regional favourite for over 20 years. In advance of moving into new markets, Saint Bernadine Mission Communications was asked to update the brand to better reflect the mainstream flavour profile and positioning and increase shelf presence.

Key messaging included refreshment, heritage, tradition, and dedication to quality, shown by research to be important to core consumers.

The existing logo was reworked to retain key characteristics and improve readability and shelf presence. A die cut label and award seal represent quality, the employee founded statement celebrates heritage, the brewery graphic acknowledges tradition, and the “extra aged” text highlights a true point of difference in their brewing process that results in much smoother beers. As well, a section was provided to enable someone to “dedicate” a case of beer to by way of thanks. The design system needed to accommodate four (and potentially more) flavours.

“Great Western Brewing Company, from Saskatoon, Canada, enlisted St. Bernadine to develop a new, premium Canadian Pale Ale for the domestic market. The brewery was founded in 1989 by 16 employees, who fought to save their jobs when a merger between Carling and Molson threatened to close the plant. They bought the brewery, and went on to win many international awards for their beer. Over twenty years later, this new beer is a tribute to the original 16 founders of Great Western Brewing Company, and the spirit, passion and dedication they have brought to brewing the best beer possible.

Premium cues include refined typography, ample white space, and silver metallics with gold accents. Initial market reception is extremely favourable.”
