“Moscow branding studio Ohmybrand created the concept of a premium brand of organic skin care cosmetics.

The name Arboris (Latin for tree) appears on the base on the completely natural composition, which includes nothing but vegetable based ingredients. Arboris products due to their natural origin have a small shelf life. We proposed using a special ink in the design of the labels. The ink begins to fade when the cream loses its freshness. Black color and mascara-stylized appearance show the premium qualities of the product and make it stand out from the mass of skin care products.”

“We are a start-up cosmetics brand that wanted not just to stand out, but to stand for something. More than just beauty, we try to provide inspiration for young women to achieve their goals and provide alternative roles models for them. Quite a tall order for a wee beauty brand, no?

Well we decided use our packaging as a canvas for young artists, featuring specially commissioned work, with artists receiving a profit share of each product sold.

Each product color is used to inspire each piece of art, that in turn can also hang on someone’s wall. The box leaflet explains our mission and where to find the wall art for sale, in the most un-leaflet way possible.”

Pulsazione

Designed by Imaginista Branding | Country: Canada

Pulsazione is a European company operating in the beauty sector that believes in offering services and products at a price that is accessible to everyone. Their new line of lotions and creams are currently being sold in Pulsazione stores globally.

One of the brand’s core values is that their products and services are priced in a completely honest way, with no hidden costs. It was very important to carry this approach through to the packaging by keeping it simple, and labelling the tubes containing the product in clear, straightforward language.

There are seven families of product within the Pulsazione Cosmetics line. One of the main objectives of this project was finding a way to differentiate these families, while keeping the packaging visually unified. This was achieved through a numbering system, with each number representing a family of products.

The packaging had to reflect that the products and services Pulsazione offer are geared towards both a male and female market. Softer, curvilinear patterns were used on one side of the box to represent female consumers, and a harsher, geometric pattern on the other side to appeal to Pulsazione’s male audience.

The white fronts of the packaging coupled with the beautiful, vibrant colours used on the sides of the boxes ensure they stand out on the shelves in the colourful Pulsazione stores.

“Philab is a Greek cosmetic production company. Its philosophy is based on the principles of efficacy, quality and safety.

Given the company’s name, the source of inspiration for its logo was the Greek letter Φ’ [Phi] which stands for the divine proportions, the ‘golden ratio’ 1.618, named after the sculptor Phidias. The absolutely symmetrical shape of the capital Φ’ was moulded in such a manner so as to resemble the shape of a round bottom test tube of a chemical lab. The deep purple reconciles the power of red with the power of blue.

Recent Penn State graduate Lainey Lee sent in some of her packaging design work.

“Chroma is a cosmetics brand that is known for their extensive selection of lipstick shades. The design of this bag was inspired by the form of a tube of lipstick. When the bag is not being held, the handle is hidden inside the bag. Then, when the bag is picked up, the handle lifts up and mimics the movement of lipstick lifting out of its tube.”
