“2011 marked the start of a quiet revolution happening in the whisky industry; the world’s first virtual whisky blending lab was launched online. Whisky Blender proved to be an award-winning smash hit and now, just four years on, they are launching Rum Blender.
Seven exquisite rums, handpicked for you to create your own bespoke blend by the bottle, simply blend it, name it, and before you know it you’ll proud be the owner of a truly unique bottle of rum unlikely to exist anywhere else in the world.
To celebrate the launch of the site they collaborated with award-winning design agency of 25 years, Front Page, to create a limited run of an engraved decanter set representing their story. These illustrations were all created on a single uniforming grid we had developed to ensure that – although three different designers were working on each individually – they would all work together and share the same style and weight.”

“The Jays Distillery situated in the quaint county of Suffolk specialise in spirits created using the best in locally sourced ingredients. The distillery works out of a historic town house which at its original erection was called the ‘The Jays’ due to the pure amount of Jay birds surrounding the hamlet it was situated in, this directly influenced the graphics using the Jay bird as a visual device throughout the packaging.”

“RM is a unique author’s rum created by Roman Milostivy. RM is a blend of several rums of the Carribean which undergoes it’s final aging in the North of Italy in three diffrent casks: acacia, Swiss oak, and, finally, cherry. The unusual cask strength of 56,8% is achieved by presence of an overproof rum. The rum has a long pleasant aftertaste and its aromas are revealed gradually due to the use of multiple casks and high strength.
In the packaging design we tried to reflect the author’s approach and unusual strength of rum. For this purpose we used a symbol of a bomb in the title which also helped us to reflect the name of the drink, and placed a dictionary article with author’s definition of rum. Each bottle is limited edition and signed by the author.”

“Bushtea spiced rum is craft distilled in England from a unique recipe inspired by traditional bush teas of the Caribbean. An infusion of fiery root ginger, citrus zests and playful hibiscus results in a bright, uplifting rum guaranteed to enliven the soul. Bushtea – Caribbean Tradition English Craft.
The design of the bottle features an illustrated copper tea pot with the distillers name ‘British Island Rum Co.’ – referencing the copper pot distilling technique used to create the craft rum.”

“Chic Choc is a new spiced rum produced by Domaine Pinnacle.
The identity is based on the legend of an adventurer, the mayor’s daughter a ferocious beast and rum. We thought of and wrote the story for the back of the bottle. This elixir is a tribute for all of us who like to take audacious paths.”

“In 1731, in accordance with the Regulations relating to His Majesty’s Service at Sea, British sailors were given a daily ration of rum. Coincidentally, mermaid sightings in the Caribbean rose significantly around this time. Sailors believed mermaids rescued shipwrecked sailors and brought them to Sugar Island. Many great ships have been lost at sea forever, chasing mermaids and looking for the mythical island. Swig created a brand identity and package that harks back to the colonial era while being perfectly relevant to today’s rum drinker.”

“2013 was a hard year in advertising. Bad news at lots of agencies and little reward. So, when Christmas came and the year was about to end, we wanted to make a nice gesture to our advertising colleagues: a present they could quietly enjoy, even on the worst nights.
And so Ron Draper was born. A rum (“ron” in Spanish) to remind us that even if the ideas are drying up, the clients aren’t taking risks or the budgets are getting smaller, things can always be better. Because they were before. In the golden age of advertising.”

“Premium brand design agency ButterflyCannon have created the brand identity and pack design for RedLeg, an authentic Caribbean spiced rum infused with Jamaican vanilla, ginger and spices.
RedLeg’s design captures the brand’s laid back Caribbean spirit; casual, chilled and totally Irie. An attitude shared by the brand’s friendly little symbol – the red legged hermit crab – a native of the glorious Caribbean coral reef whose scarlet legs protrude from its tiny shell and appear to have caught a little too much sun. A likeness that didn’t go unnoticed when the pale, rum loving, immigrants arrived from Scotland in the 17th Century and suffered from the same sun burn issues, their descendants still known today as the Red Legs.
“We feel that ButterflyCannon interpreted our brief perfectly. We’re delighted with the end result; the packaging design alone has led to bar listings!” Don Goulding, CEO Blavod Drinks.
The design has also already won a silver medal in the 2013 San Francisco Spirit Awards.”
