Moreish

Moreish

Designed by Milk | Country: New Zealand

“The luxury segment is experiencing the strongest growth in skincare. Moreish was an existing, but underperforming range in pharmacy. The existing brand was centred purely around argan oil and its Moroccan provenance, but the visual architecture was very pharmaceutical in aesthetic and not embraced by consumers. While the already effective formulas have only been slightly altered, the brand positioning, language and design were completely up for grabs.

The new differentiated Moreish proposition is now more relevant to our target audience, we brought this new positioning alive through a more sophisticated pack language. The new positioning needed to work harder than focusing solely on a key ingredient, as these are subject to fads and potentially negative media. The skin is the body’s largest organ, and whatever goes on the skin is ‘consumed’ by the body, so therefore anything applied to the skin should truly nourish like nutrient-rich food does. Leveraging this simple insight, we repositioned the brand as ‘Superfood for Skin’.”

“Above & Below by Gbenda-Charles is a single-source, organic skincare solution for men.

The task set to Butcher & Butcher was in positioning Above & Below as a unique challenger brand within the existing—and rapidly growing—men’s skincare category.

The key to achieving this was in calling back to the Gbenda-Charles master brand in endorsing and informing product development. The core vision of Gbenda-Charles is one of quality and extraordinary simplicity, and this is echoed by the Above & Below product itself: one ingredient, from one sustainable source, creating a single solution for men’s skin care and grooming.”

Aromatologic

Aromatologic

lovely-package-aromatologic-1

Designed by mousegraphics | Country: Greece

“Τhe briefing (in brief): We introduce in Greece and abroad a new line of cosmetics based on components extracted from the legendary area of the Dead Sea. We start with a line of unique perfume oils. We want the logo and the whole identity design for our project.

Τhe target consumer: Sophisticated women and men who care for the provenance and materials of beauty products while also appreciating design and packaging care.

The design: We worked with our client to build the brand image and product story, starting from the given brand name (Aromatologic) and the high-value provenance of the products. Aromatologic project is conceived as one that studies the most primal of senses, Smell, and traces the archetypal but personal “logic of the aromas” in ancient philosophy, the science of numbers and the field of personal memories. Thanks to their pure oil basis, these aromas can blend with each body smell, and create a long lasting, unique, aromatic experience. Based on this, we developed a quite iconic logo as the metamorphosis of a vital and precious perfume (or essence) drop to letter A and vice versa. As the Aromatologic project is also a naming game, where the experience and memory of fragrances is suggested by numbers rather than described by words, we devised a similar and quite original packaging design process: Every scent, corresponds to a number and every number has its own distinct image created by a different artist. We commissioned graphic designers in Greece and abroad to imagine and design the different packages making this the first ‘collective packaging design project’. If “scent counts” (as the brand tag line claims), we aimed for “power in numbers” as well. This sense of something unique but also available to all, guided our choice of a book-like case for each of the aromas.”

Verso Skincare

Designed by Today Creative | Country: Sweden | Fonts used: LL Brown, Carousel

“Verso is latin and means reverse, as in the backside of a painting or the back view of a dress. It is what is normally hidden underneath, the mirrored view. In a metaphorical sense, you could say it means going your own way, being different. And Verso is a very different kind of skincare. It has a unique and patented formula called Retinol 8 that helps the skin cells to mimic how young cells behave, effectively reversing the signs of aging.

The Verso Skincare brand identity & packaging design was developed for over a year by Today Creative: Susanna Barrett Creative Direction, Mattias Börjesson Brand Strategy, Tom Miller Senior Designer and Torbjörn Kihlberg Designer. Web development by Emil Olsson.”

“Previously the chosen product by plastic surgeons and cosmetic physicians, Rationale, a pioneering organic skincare system, is now available to direct to consumers.

This super high-end skincare regime had to translate it’s scientific and medical heritage into the beauty category.

The 6-step system takes consumers through a simple numerical structure, 1-3 in the morning, 4-6 in the evening.

The unique properties and characteristics of each formula are expressed through the combination of graphical forms within theelegance of the numerical system. Sophistication with science at its core.”

Student Work - Samantha Szakolczay

Designed by Samantha Szakolczay | Country: United States

“For this conceptual project, students were to chose a pre-existing and well-known brand and develop a line of skin care products. The key factor in deciding upon a brand was that it was not currently affiliated with a skin care line of products. The challenge was then to maintain equity within the brand and translate that into skin care.

Altoids has always been a product meant for a mass audience of both men and women. As a largely popular breath mint in the United States, the mint product is slightly more expensive than the average breath mint price. In maintaining such characteristics, Curious is a skin care product that is clinically proven to cleanse and refresh the skin. The product is meant for both men and women and offers skin care products that clean, treat, and sooth the skin.”
