“Robot Food created Vocation’s branding earlier this year. For Christmas 2015 the agency and brewery joined forces to create Naughty & Nice, a limited edition chocolate stout brimming with festive flavour.

Robot Food and Vocation Brewery make a good team. Both share a challenger ethos, which lives and breathes in Vocation’s uncompromisingly delicious craft beers, and in Robot Food’s distinctive brand designs.

Naughty & Nice is a collaborative project. The decadent chocolate stout is smooth and warming, and combines a naughtily high ABV with some seriously festive flavours. Comprising of just 1323 limited edition 750ml bottles, Robot Food developed the idea with head brewer, John and got suck in brewing up the single batch.”

“Rice pudding is rising in popularity, and to coincide with the trend, The Hain Daniels Group has launched Naughty But Rice, a vibrant new brand with a bit of a twist. The clue’s in the name. Naughty But Rice brings pud lovers all the heart and soul of traditional rice pudding with a deliciously contemporary edge.

Leeds-based brand and design agency, Robot Food, are well-known for their daring challenger approach, and were asked to help create the brand look, feel and packaging. Leaving behind the tired, whimsical category cues of old, the team came up with the strap-line, ‘Rice pudding. But not as you know it’, and got to work on a strikingly indulgent aesthetic that deliberately disregards the category’s moody, rather serious look and feel.”

“Robot Food was tasked with creating a training supplements brand. In a crowded marketplace characterised by machismo, pseudo-science and gimmickry, the challenge was to enter the sector as a clear winner. Not just a contender.

Robot Food spotted an opportunity early on. They identified that, although men invest a lot of time going to the gym to look and feel good, there was no brand that truly ‘gets’ them, speaks their language and embodies their lifestyle.

They went in with three positioning options. Secret Service had a strong sense of premium, military-grade precision for the best of the best. Sport Science was a winning formula grounded in efficacy with cut-through minimalism. Contemporary Grit, the chosen route, is packed with rebellious attitude, reflecting the lifestyles of those who train hard and play hard. This was the most compelling as it felt completely unexplored territory. The look and feel blended tattoo art, the vintage motorcycle scene, MMA and other edgy urban subcultures.”

“Bisto is the Nation’s Favourite gravy and one of the most recognisable brands on shelf and as such, deserved a fitting tribute for this year’s annual collector’s edition tin. To help celebrate the Bisto brand and put a contemporary spin on a retro offering, Robot Food were called in to put their creative heads together and deliver something with huge standout.

With the aim to launch in time for the upcoming winter season, Robot Food were responsible for the proposition and design of the Limited Edition Bisto gravy tin exclusive to Tesco stores nationwide. By taking cues from Bisto of old and mixing them up with contemporary touches; the new collector’s edition tin is an apt homage to the proud heritage of the Bisto brand. A luxurious gold finish and subtle pack embossings help bring the tin into the 21st century, whilst the bulk of the design remains very much vintage. The Bisto children and old school messaging make a welcome return and when surrounded by intricate flourishes and subtle details, give the pack a stylish, retro that remains very current. A Limited Edition tin worthy of the title, fit to display in the kitchen and use again and again.”

“Craft beer is riding the crest of a wave, and as microbreweries gain in popularity, brand identities are getting more expressive and creative. Robot Food’s identity for new microbrewery, Vocation, is as daring as the beer it crafts.

John Hickling brews beer with distinctive, punchy flavour. Each hop forward beer stands out from the norm and names such as ‘Heart & Soul’ and ‘Divide & Conquer’ fly the flag for the brewery’s fearless attitude. Vocation’s beers are bold, brave and uncompromising and like beer, like brewer, they all epitomise Hickling’s passion for his trade. John originally left his job in a bank, sold his house and set up his first brewery, Blue Monkey. After selling up to explore new ventures John realised he only had one vocation. He’s now back where he belongs, brewing the types of beer he wants to drink.”

“We all love Christmas. But when you’re a design agency, the pressure’s on. To celebrate the season and their distinctive creative approach, Robot Food gave clients, family and friends something fun, festive and worth making room for on the mantelpiece.

The specialist branding and packaging agency decided on a traditional wooden nutcracker. With an on-brand robotic twist. First seen in Germany, these ornamental figures have been around since the 15th century. They’re usually a wooden solder, knight or king, and are said to possess guardian-like properties because of their imposing presence. One of the inspirations behind The Nutcracker ballet, they’re enjoyed the world over for their festive decorative qualities.”

“Raw meat for dogs is a growing trend. It’s the most natural way for dogs to get the fresh goodness they need and in answer to the rising demand, a whole new category has emerged. But however tasty it is for pets, there’s no denying how unpleasant raw meat can be for owners.

Robot Food, the UK-based branding, packaging and new product development specialist, recognised the opportunity to offer dog owners a more appealing alternative. Instead of trays of frankly yucky product that’s off-putting to handle, Robot Food came up with ‘Duchess and Rover, gourmet sausages for dogs’. Working closely with a Yorkshire meat producer, the creative team developed the proposition, name, branding and packaging.”

“The market for healthy, protein-packed snacks is booming, and Kings Biltong is leading the way. The nutrition brand, set up by three ex-England rugby-playing brothers, makes dried, sliced beef in a range of delicious flavours.

Produced on their North Yorkshire farm from grass-fed British-beef, the high-protein, low-fat snacks offer athletes an alternative to chalky protein bars and other supplement snacks that often miss the mark in terms of both taste and quality perceptions.
